Great Smokey Mountains National Park

We have driven through the Great Smokey Mountains National Park several occasions, but never really had time to explore the area that much until our most recent road trip in March of 2019.
While on our mini MINI Road Trip we stopped off here on our way to Kentucky. This particular road trip was a special one for Bourn Adventure as we accomplished our goal of driving our 2017 MINI Cooper to all lower 48 states while on it! Even though our time here was short, we still had the opportunity to experience more of this amazing place. |
We spent a decent amount of time walking around downtown Gatlinburg doing some window shopping and test drinking some delicious adult beverages. This is a fun area visit as there is so much to see and do, but it is very touristy and can be fairly crowded.
If you would rather experience the views provided by the Great Smokey Mountains there are plenty of roads and trails to drive through. Some of the main road also have turn off areas where you can park and take some beautiful pictures of the landscape. During peak busy times, parking for these turn offs and other areas can be difficult to find. Sometimes it is better to pass them up and come back later in the day or if you are able to, early the next morning.
We had great time and look forward to our next adventure here.
