This was the second largest road trip Mr. Izaguirre and I have taken together. On the first trip, we were on the road for about 20 days, hit 18 states, ventured into Canada and saw the eastern part of America. We named that road trip “Ponch & Bake East Coast Road Tour 2008”.
So I'm sure you're asking yourself, "What the H E double hockey sticks is Ponch and Bake?". It all started in the summer of 2007 when Stephen and I first met on a blistering 102 degree day in south Louisiana. I know this is starting to sound a lot like the beginning of a cheap, smutty airport novel, but I assure you that is not the case.
You see, Stephen is a short Mexican fellow with glorious hair and I am a tall, white goofy looking fellow with dirty blond hair. Stephen and I just happened to be standing next to each other when someone said “Hey you two look like those cop guys from that old TV show CHiPs”. Of course he was referring to Officer Frank Poncherello and Officer Jon Baker. From there, “Ponch & Bake” was born.
So that leads into the name of this road trip. Papa.Bravo.Fourteen is a super secret code name we invented for Ponch and Bake, Fourteen (year of this road trip) or Ponch.Bake.Fourteen. Yea, we're cool like that. The only thing we were missing was matching secret decoder rings.
We had a name and sticker at the begging of the road trip, but no theme. The theme came later when people started referring to us as "Captain or Commander" and "Co-Captain or Co-Commander". Once we were given those titles, we knew we needed official mission uniforms and fancy mission sunglasses. To see some ridicules pictures of us, click here: Silly Pictures
