Seattle, WA

Picture
Seattle is located in the Pacific Northwest and is known for its coffee, seafood, and when the weather cooperates, its beautiful views. It also home to several large tech companies and the very iconic Space Needle which has been featured in many movies and tv shows.

When looking at the Seattle skyline the Space Needle always seems to catch your attention first because of its unique shape. It has been the pride of Seattle since its construction for the 1962 World's Fair.
The city has much more to offer than just that though. For instance, it has Pike Place Market which is Seattle's original farmers market and over 100 years later, it is still a bustling center for commerce.  It provides space for business that sell fresh produce, crafts, souvenirs, and other types of specialty store fronts. There inside the market and the surrounding area are eateries of all shapes and sizes who have a wide range of menu options. Crowds are also drawn to the open air fish market there which has a long history of throwing the fish around. It is quite the spectacle.

Pike Place Market is also the birth place of a small little business you might have heard of. In 1971 Starbucks Coffee and Tea opened their doors to the public and to this day you can still visit the original location. Depending on the time of day or year, it can be very difficult to order a coffee there since so many people come to experience it. Do not let that discourage you from stopping by if you are feeling nostalgic. You can peek in the window from the sidewalk and then stroll a block away to another Starbucks location and order a coffee there! If that one is busy too, no worries, just walk another block until you reach another Starbucks.

If you want to take a step back and look out over the city, be sure to visit Queen Anne Hill, which is the tallest hill in the area. On the southern portion of Queen Anne Hill you will find an observation point called Kerry Park which gives onlookers a spectacular view of the city along with Elliott Bay and Mt. Rainier. The picture provided at the top of this article was taken from there. Due to the popularity of Kerry Park it can be fairly busy there and parking is limited, but in our opinion, the experience is well worth the work.

We have visited Seattle several times over and we look forward to our next adventure here!
